Frequently asked questions

Everything from starting your first practice to understanding scores, recordings, and live AI conversations.

What does the app do?

Podium is your AI speech coach. It gives you a private place to practice speaking out loud, then tells you exactly what to fix. Pick a topic, record yourself, and get feedback on your delivery, structure, and confidence.

You can also rehearse real conversations before they happen, talking with an AI voice that answers back so you can prepare for interviews, sales calls, difficult conversations, and everyday social moments.

How does Podium work?

Every practice session follows a simple loop:

  • You speak out loud using a topic, script, or live conversation.
  • Podium records and analyzes what you said.
  • You receive a score, transcript, strengths, and specific areas to improve.

Mock Interview and Role Play use a realtime AI voice that listens and responds, making practice feel like an actual conversation.

How do I start practicing?
  • Open Podium and choose a practice type from Home.
  • Pick a topic or scenario.
  • Tap Start and speak out loud.
  • Finish the session to receive your analysis and results.
Which practice types are available?
PracticeWhat it is
SprintA quick daily practice on a fresh topic, up to 2 minutes.
Mock InterviewA live AI interview tailored to your role, company, and seniority.
Role PlayLive conversations across sales, difficult talks, small talk, networking, and more.
ChallengesTeleprompter-style scripts you deliver with authority.
DrillsShort, focused repetitions that build one specific skill.
Free PracticeOpen-ended practice on anything you want to work on.
How is my speaking scored?

Podium analyzes sessions across structure, conciseness, confidence, filler words, and pace. After each session you receive an overall score, transcript, strengths, and one clear next focus.

What are Role Play packs?

Role Play scenarios are grouped into themed packs such as Small Talk Anywhere, Office Hours, Hard Talks, Close the Deal, Stand Your Ground, Own the Room, Spotlight Moments, Inner Circle, and On the Road. Scenarios unlock in order as you complete them.

How do Mock Interviews work?

Mock Interview creates a spoken conversation with an AI interviewer. Tailor it to your role, company, and seniority, then answer follow-up questions as you would in a real interview. You receive a score, transcript, strengths, and areas to improve at the end.

Can I interrupt the AI in live conversations?

Podium uses clear turns: the AI waits for you to finish speaking, and you get to complete your thought without being talked over. This keeps interview and role-play sessions predictable and easy to follow.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes. Live AI voice conversations and session analysis require an internet connection because speech processing and AI responses are generated online.

Are my recordings private?

Your session audio is processed to generate your transcript, score, and feedback. It is not shared or published, and nobody is watching or listening to your practice. Your results, streak, and rank history remain tied to your account so you can track progress over time.

What is the streak?

Your streak tracks how many days in a row you practice. Completing your first practice of the day keeps it going.

What are the Podium Score and ranks?

Your Podium Score reflects your average performance across recent sessions. With consistent practice, you can progress from Rising Voice to Focused Builder, Clear Speaker, Confident Communicator, Compelling Speaker, and Podium Master.

Ranks consider your average score over your last five analyzed sessions and the number of distinct days practiced. Once earned, a rank is never taken away.

What can I review after a session?
  • Your overall score and breakdown by dimension.
  • Your complete transcript.
  • Your strengths and specific areas to improve.
  • One clear focus for your next session.
Can I customize the app's appearance?

Podium follows your iPhone's system appearance automatically, including light and dark modes.

Does Podium have subscriptions?

Podium offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions. When a trial is available, its length and the price that follows are shown before you confirm. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time through your Apple Account settings.

Who is Podium for?

Podium is for job seekers, professionals, founders, students, teachers, Toastmasters members, and anyone who wants a private place to build confidence speaking out loud.
